Pajamas Media » The Future of Obama’s Stealth Gun Control

January 2013: After the most unremittingly negative, cynical presidential contest in American history, Barack Obama has narrowly won a second term in the White House and stands ready to take the oath of office again. Aided immeasurably by a Legacy Media that buried the Gunwalker scandal along with myriad other scandals potentially harmful to him — and relentlessly savaged his opponents — Mr. Obama just barely pulled himself across the finish line on the strength of his rhetoric.

No longer restrained by the need to maintain appearances in order to win reelection, no longer restrained by the need to appease congressional Democrats, he turns to those facets of his agenda too unpopular to openly pursue during a first term. Very near the top of his list is gun control – or, more properly, the disarming of the American people.

The writer touches on the most unsettling (to me, at least) aspects of permitting Obama a second term: He has already demonstrated his willingness to ignore the law, the Constitution, and Congress, and the courts, and all of those institutions have shown an alarming inability to exert any checks or balances over him.

This leads me in a very uncomfortable direction: I may have to reconsider my refusal to take an “anybody but Obama” stance in 2012. I hate to say this so early, lest it give the RINO factions a free run at nominating any old crap sandwich as the GOP candidate, but it may be that defeating Obama and the threat he represents to liberty and fiscal sanity will have to be the driving imperative next year.

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.

  1. I’m pretty sure a Constitutional Amendment that repeals the two term limit is on his second term agenda. Then he can have his “community organizer” friends stuff ballot boxes for his third and subsequent terms.
