“We’re not advocating a major imposition of the government into people’s lives.” [Darleen Click]
What’s not to love when scientists want the government to do what’s best for you.
Sugar is so harmful to public health it should be controlled like alcohol and cigarettes, US scientists claimed.
Researchers from the University of California-San Francisco said Wednesday that the public’s excessive consumption of sugar not only is contributing to a global obesity pandemic but also is critically altering people’s hormones, metabolism and blood pressure and causing “significant damage to the liver.”
It figures that it would be some San Francisco outfit that would recommend a new anti-sugar tyranny, but I am pleased, at least, to see that finally a major player is pointing the finger at the real cause of obesity in America – refined sugars. Now if they’d just add the rest of the culprits – refined carbohydrates – maybe we could get rid of the ridiculous Fed Food Pyramid that promotes obesity, and people of their own free will could take up the low-carb eating habits that actually work as permanent, healthy lifestyles.
