Wonkbook: Payroll tax shenanigans, plus the most important regulation you’ve never heard of – The Washington Post

The move sets up the latest game of brinkmanship on Capitol Hill, in which a failure by lawmakers to pass a deal before New Year’s Day will result in a two percentage-point payroll tax increase on 160 million workers,

Okay, explain something to me, please.

The fellating tools and hack propagandists at the Washington Post assure us that if a tax cut less than a year old is not renewed, then we will be getting a tax increase.

Yet not renewing a Bush tax cut more than ten years old is somehow not a tax increase. It is repealing the Bush tax cut.

So why is the first of these not repealing the Obama tax cut?  Or even better, why isn’t it reducing spending in the tax code?

About Bill Quick

I am a small-l libertarian with conservative leanings on most issues, except on many traditionally conservative social issues, where my stance would be regarded as hopelessly liberal by most social conservatives. My primary concern is to increase individual liberty as much as possible in the face of statist efforts to restrict it from both the right and the left. If I had to sum up my beliefs as concisely as possible, I would say, "Stay out of my wallet and my bedroom," "your liberty stops at my nose," and "don't tread on me." I will believe that things are taking a turn for the better in America when married gays are able to, and do, maintain large arsenals of automatic weapons, and tax collectors are, and do, not.

Were you expecting principled consistency from Ezra “Journolist” Klein? A shred of decency, a tiny sparkle of principle in the dark night of the soul? Fuggedaboudit. Ezra Klein is about as likely to bite the hand that feeds as the sun is to rise in the west.
